We’ll be serving Henstone French 77s (gin, limoncello, elderflower cordial and prosecco)  and and Henstone Gimlets (gin and lime cordial) alongside our Henstone G&Ts.

All welcome – we look forward to seeing you!

Henstone Distillery’s First Market!

We were invited along to Hawarden Estate Farm Shop market on Saturday 26 May. This was our first ever market and the very first time our family of gin bottles (70cl, 20cl and 5cl) were on display together. You can see them, together with part of our stall, in the photo below…..

The feedback we received was great and we look forward to many more markets over the coming years!

Thank you to Hawarden Estate for the invitation and support, we really appreciate it.

Sorry!!

A sincere apology to those of you who tried to view our web page or email us over the last few days and experienced problems. After more than 40 years working in telecoms and IT I managed to allow our domains to expire – it’s a long, embarrassing story but the problem is now fixed and I have put in place mechanisms to make sure it doesn’t happen again!

Henstone gin is selling well and getting great feedback!

Hello – I thought it was time for a brief update about our gin. Sales are going nicely and we’ve had some great table talkers made up by Hunter Bevan as you can see below:

We’ve also had some fabulous feedback, including:

This gin is amazing and awesome” – Gareth Ward, head chef at Ynys Hir Hall Michelin starred restaurant Machynlleth. Gareth then immediately bought a case of six for the restaurant!

The citrus on the nose is like a punch in the face (that’s a good thing) its beautifully balanced on the palate, nice juniper and a late surge of cardamom which smooth’s out the citrus and nicely balances it.” – Darren Hopkins, Gindifferent, Shrewsbury.

I’m a freelancer in the Arts and based in Norwich but often end up in the west and over the weekend was working in Oswestry on the Gilbert and Gordon project, Memorial Hall, and I tried your gin – it is the most delicious gin I think I have ever tasted, I would give it 11 out of a possible 10. I was lucky enough to be given a half finished bottle to take home which we all polished off, I am back in your neck of the woods in a month and would like to purchase a couple of bottles, where can I get hold of it? Thanks and best wishes for your triumphant gin production” – retail customer

We are here in North Wales for a few days staying at the Coed y Glyn cabins, and have tasted your new gin in 2 places now (The Chain Bridge Hotel and The Corn Mill). Can you please tell me where I can buy a few bottles, as it’s awesome !!! “ – retail customer, a gin lover from Cleethorpes

The @HenstoneDistill gin is über good with Mediterranean tonic, in my professional opinion !” – Colliers Arms

Now folks. This. This is serious. Perhaps, verging on nearly certainly, the finest gin we’ve ever known! From @HenstoneDistill & the clever folk @stonehousebeer – local, incredible, and by gum it packs a punch!” – Chainbridge Hotel, Llangollen

“it’s big it’s bold and its cockle warming on another Snow day!” – Darren Hopkins, Gindifferent, Shrewsbury

My new favourite gin and probably the most intensely flavoured gin I’ve had.” David Moss – Three Fishes Shrewsbury.” – David Moss, Three Fishes, Shrewsbury

First bottle of Henstone Gin flew out the door almost as soon as it landed… …we are not surprised though, it’s one delicious Gin ” – Wrekin Whiskies, Shrewsbury

Whilst out at Sebastian’s in Oswestry last night, we were sampled your Henstone Gin. (We loved it!). Is it possible to buy a bottle or is it only available to businesses?” – Retail customer

Yes, I put orange zest and slices in and a friend and gin connoisseur was so impressed I came down and bought him a bottle to take home!” – Retail customer

Hey Chris, had the first taste of the Henstone gin last night with Simon and Jim, …… it was amazing, best Gin I have ever had. Simon has signed up to be the head of distribution in Normandy.” – a friend

Sherry casks are here!

From the start of our planning we have wanted to put some whisky into sherry casks. However, you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to get your hands on these. Determination and perseverance won again and today we took delivery of two Oloroso and one Pedro Ximenez (ex-sherry) firkins. We just can’t wait to fill these and test the effect – we feel a very special whisky coming so keep watching and following for updates.

They will have our logo on very soon.

Henstone Distillery Apple Brandy is on it’s way!

On Sunday 18th of March we had another 12 hour shift distilling nearly 2000 litres of Sweeney Mountain cider (produced by Stonehouse Brewery) to make our very first Apple Brandy. The ‘new make’ spirit flowing out of Hilda (the still) immediately tasted like a very good Calvados! The following day we diluted the spirit back to about 65% with very pure water and put it into a new American oak cask to mature.  We are hopeful the new American oak will impart a hint of vanilla flavour into the spirit!

We will keep a watchful eye on the progress of maturation but expect it to be ready for Christmas 2018.

Our branding for this product is already sorted as you can see in the mock up image below….

Please keep following our progress.

Land Rover Day this coming Saturday, 24 March!

We’re holding the inaugural Land Rover Day on Saturday 24th March 2018 from 13:00 –> 17:00 @ Stonehouse Brewery (SY10 9ES)

Let’s try and fill the car park with Land Rovers of any description, including Series, Lightweight, Forward Controls, Range Rover, Ninety/One Ten, Discovery, Defender, Freelander, Evoque & Velar!
Likeminded people can enjoy a beer and a bite whilst talking Land Rover. As well as a range of Stonehouse Beers and Henstone gin, Lepones Pizza will be available.
Visitors will also be able to see the Stonehouse Brewery equipment and Henstone Distillery’s still, Hilda.
Let’s make it a day to remember and perhaps it’ll become a ‘Saturday before Easter’ regular event!!
Note: Non-Land Rover owners welcome too.

Henstone Gin Is Here!!

We are very pleased to announce that our Henstone gin is now ready for sale! Customers may come along to the distillery to redeem their vouchers at their convenience and the bottles are also on sale to retail and trade customers. As our previous post stated, feedback so far has been amazing and we are so proud of the product we have produced – we hope you’ll agree with us when you have the opportunity to try it.

It is also available in a number of local pubs and hotels so please look out for it there too.

Henstone Gin – production and early feedback….

We distilled our first ever batch of Henstone Gin on 8th of February. Starting the previous day we did some ‘maceration’ as can be seen in the photo below (juniper, coriander, cardamom together with  a few secrets) gently warming up…..

Following distillation we bottled – unfortunately our real labels were not available so we knocked up some temporary ones as can be seen below:

The feedback we have received so far has been tremendous! The General Manager of Gales Wine Bar in Llangollen described it as “sensational” when he tasted it on Saturday 24 February. Today we also received the following email from another early customer:

Dear Henstone Distillery

I’m a freelancer in the Arts and based in Norwich but often end up in the west and over the weekend was working in Oswestry on the Gilbert and Gordon project, Memorial Hall, and I tried your gin – it is the most delicious gin I think I have ever tasted, I would give it 11 out of a possible 10. I was lucky enough to be given a half finished bottle to take home which we all polished off, I am back in your neck of the woods in a month and would like to purchase a couple of bottles, where can I get hold of it?

Thanks and best wishes for your triumphant gin production

Alex

Our real labels will be available today/tomorrow and then the gin will be freely available to both retail and trade customers.

First batch whisky sold out!!

The first batch of 200 bottles of our single malt whisky has now  sold out and  the whisky is maturing in oak. Watch this space for future opportunities…..
