This certainly wasn’t in the business plan!
Following fantastic support from Alan Powell of the British Distillers Alliance and HMRC we were able to commence production of much needed Hand Sanitiser towards the end of March. Between Friday the 27th of March and Thursday the 2nd of April we had produced 500 litres of ‘World Health Organisation Handrub Formulation’. This allowed us to deliver 500 x 500ml hand dispensers to three local hospitals. We are also supplying to local care homes, the Post Office, local hauliers and some retail customers. We are desperately trying to make sure we prioritise production and delivery appropriately, with the NHS always top.
At the time of writing this post (15 April) we had produced and bottled 1100 litres and will have another 450 litres ready by Friday April 17th!!
It is so nice to get feedback about what we’re doing and this little article in our local paper, The Oswestry Advertizer, was very welcome:
The sub postmistress at Dudleston Heath Post Office, in Criftins Parish Hall, has thanked and praised an Oswestry firm for providing it with cheap hand sanitiser. Lynn Johnson, from Dudleston Heath, admitted she was delighted that Oswestry’s Henstone Distillery were able to provide four 500ml bottles of their newly-produced sanitisers for the same price people on eBay were selling much smaller bottles.
She said Henstone set a good example of helping out smaller businesses in the area. “We have to offer hand sanitiser to customers and our staff too while we’re open,” said Lynn. “We managed to get some from Henstone for a low price and they’re doing all the Post Offices in the area too. “It’s an example of how a big business is looking after a smaller one – I think I’ve paid the same for four 500 ml ones as someone on eBay was asking for a 100ml bottle.”
