Alex and Chris Toller
Henstone Distillery was established in Oswestry, Shropshire, United Kingdom in 2017 by Chris and Alexandra Toller, and Shane and Alison Parr. Following a company restructure in August 2023 Shane and Alison left in order to concentrate on their brewing and hospitality business.
Chris and Alex have been joined by two of their four children and have serious growth plans for the distillery. Henry, pictured below, joined in November 2021 as our Sales Manager.

We feel very fortunate to have Matt Dugdale on board as our Brand Ambassador too! Matt joined in September 2023 and will help out at shows and festivals. An interesting fact about Matt is that he has the largest English Whisky collection in the World!! Pamela Hunt joined us in September 2023 to cover Flo’s imminent maternity leave (more about that soon) having bottling and distilling support responsibilities. Her previous experience, however, means she’s highly likely to stay on after Flo returns.

The distillery is currently located at the Stonehouse Brewery site. We spent several years planning our venture. After receiving a grant from the RDPE we installed an impressive 1000 litre still, affectionately named Hilda. Hilda was manufactured by Kothe in Germany and supplied to us by their UK agents Ryebeck Limited.
Our aim is to create the best quality products for people like us who enjoy sophisticated, classic spirits, but with that small batch twist. You can review our products on our product page by clicking the button below.
We believe our branding, produced with the support of Pocket Rocket Creative in Stirling reflects this.
We’re all passionate about the high calibre spirits that we’re producing and are looking forward to utilising Hilda’s many talents to create even more fabulous drinks.
The name Henstone originates from the family homes of the original co-founders. Chris and Alex live in an ex-public house called “The Hen and Chickens”, whilst Shane and Alison live in “Stone House”.
We live in a beautiful part of the world and look forward to welcoming you to it soon.
